IMPORTANT UPDATES

 

October 12th, 2016

 

The Bahamas Union of Teachers met with the Ministry of Education today. Present were the Minister of Education, The Permanent Secretary and the Director From the B.U.T., Joan Turnquest , Acting President, Secretary General John Musgrove, Charles Adderley, Acting Treasurer and Quintin LaRoda AVP of Grand Bahama. The meeting was fruitful and productive and will resume tomorrow.

What is agreed is that the teachers will enjoy their midterm break as per the Industrial agreement. Further updates will be forth-coming. The return to school on Thursday is for assessment purposes only. The Ministry wants to be fully informed as to what needs to be repaired, what may have been stolen or vandalized etc.

The Bahamas Union of Teachers congratulates Zane Lightbourne (Member) and Brother Quintin Laroda (AVP Grand Bahama) for their success in the NCTUB elections held today. Brother Lightbourne was elected unopposed to the position of Secretary General whilst Brother Laroda was elected unopposed to the position of fourth Vice President. Congratulations all the best. Continue to do well!
